The Valhalla Triathlon
Event Routes & Information
The Swim – 1.9km
Swimming with the tide along the North bank of the mighty River Humber you can expect the swim to be fast! A great start to the race if you can get over the fact that it could well be rough if there’s more than a slight breeze, and you almost certainly won’t see a thing once your head is in the water. 3 Million tonnes of suspended silt make the river a dark place.
T1
Having survived the swim and hit the exit point you’ll be faced with a 500m climb through the Country Park to get to T1. There will be a small transition area at the swim exit to allow you to put on a spare pair of running shoes for the run to T1 and take your wetsuit off, if required.
The Bike – 90km
Fast, fast and fast. The route passes over the Humber Bridge to join a relatively flat multiple lap course on the flatlands of rural North Lincolnshire, the roads are quiet and run fast, though we’ve thrown in a couple of short climbs just to keep things interesting.
T2
No climbs, no runs, just a large, open hard standing transition area, ensuring you plenty of space to move through at high speed.
The Run – 21km
A fast swim and a fast bike should really be finished with a fast run, but that would be too easy… Having burned your legs running to T1 and pushing the big gears on a flat bike course we’re going to add to the pain with a challenging run. The multi lap course will have you running on flat trails, footpaths and river paths, accessed by leg sapping climbs through the Country Park.
Supporters – All The Way
The transition, finish line and race HQ are only metres away from the Humber Bridge Visitor Centre which gives spectators a fantastic view of the action. There’s also a river path which follows the swim route, and of course one of the walk ways on the Humber Bridge will be open to allow a unique view of both the swim and the run.
