Apollo. God of Sun and twin brother to Artemis, Apollo was charged with riding his chariot of light each day to drive the sun over the dawn sky.
As Apollo brought light to each day, the Apollo Triathlon @ South Hunsley Sports signals the start of the new triathlon season and the start of spring. Following a winter of training and preparation triathletes of all levels from novice to seasoned veteran come to test themselves on the South Hunsley course and get their triathlon season under way.
The Apollo Triathlon @ South Hunsley will once again be the first event in the 2012 EY Events Gold Rush Triathlon Series, a series of three pool based sprint distance triathlon events, Apollo, Athena and Artemis, with the series winners taking some quite unique prizes.
A 12 length swim in the South Hunsley pool gets the race under way followed by a loop around the undulating and scenic bike course. There are one or two climbs along the route and some sweeping, long descents through rural East Yorkshire, if you have the time to look around you’ll get witness some fantastic views of the Humber Estuary before dropping back in to South Hunsley Sports. The run couldn’t be faster with a flat and fast two lap course which brings you to an often noisy and very well supported finish line.
Whether you’re new to triathlon and want a friendly, supportive atmosphere, or an experienced triathlete looking for a fast race and some tough competition, you’re welcome at The Apollo Triathlon @ South Hunsley. Our skilled and experienced event crew will do all they can to make sure you have a good experience and enjoy your race.
Prizes and awards will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female athletes, 1st Male and Female Age Group Winners, and the Lanterne Rouge.

Novices
While the race will be challenging it’s also designed to be accessible to novices stepping up to middle distance racing for the first time, and we will provide advice, guidance and support where it’s needed.
