Toro CSC - HOTH

18th / 19th AUGUST 2012
Now Including A New 6 Hour Race
Looking for a new challenge? The Hell On The Humber 12 Hour Endurance Race could be just the challenge you need! The event sees competitors facing the weather, fatigue and sleep deprivation in their bid to travel the longest distance possible in 12 hours of continuous running, marching and walking with the clock and their own minds and bodies to beat.
The race takes place on a closed, traffic free 4 mile circuit on the World famous Humber Bridge, taking competitors over the bridge twice every lap, only leaving to pass through the admin and support area where nutrition and water is supplied along with access to toilet facilities, your support kit or crew and medical facilities should you need them. You couldn't ask for a better event venue, from the bridge you have amazing views of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with an often fantastic sun set and sun rise, but be warned, when the weather turns there's nowhere to hide, the wind and rain can slow even the strongest of competitors to a crawl...
There are prizes for the top 3 male and female competitors, top extreme tab and top team covering the greatest distance in the 12 hours, but the event isn't really about competing against other people, it's about competing against yourself and whatever nature throws in your way, pushing yourself to complete the 12 hours and enjoying the reward of personal accomplishment and achievement, doing something many only dream of. Whether you run, march, walk or crawl, whether you're male or female, 20 or 100, whether entering as an individual or part of a team, and whether you complete 4 miles or 40 miles, everyone who finishes is a winner.
Individual Race
As the name suggests this is quite simply you against the clock and the elements, you have 12 hours and go for as long as you can in that time, you'll be assigned an admin area where you'll be able to pitch a small tent to store your supplies, waterproofs, spare clothing and shoes and special nutrition requirements, or just to sit or have a quick nap if you want. You can keep going or take as many rests as you like in the admin area.
Team Race
Teams of three can enter the event, teams can be all male, all female or mixed, the only rule being that at least one member of the team must be on the route at all times. Each team will again be assigned an admin area for storage and rest.
Race HQ
The Race HQ will be at the race start and finish next to the competitor admin areas, you'll pass through once each lap and log your progress as well as access any facilities you need. There will emergency nutrition to keep you going through the event along with energy drinks and water, all available at the Race HQ. There will also be a medic on duty at the Race HQ to check on any blisters or other injuries. Full toilet facilities will also be available at Race HQ and you'll also be able to take a seat and a drink and have a talk to other competitors and race crew if you require.
Support Crew
Teams or individuals are welcome to bring a support crew, somebody to look after their nutritional needs or medical requirements, or just to give moral support throughout the event. Support crews will need to be registered with the event crew to access the admin areas and will be able to access all areas of the Race HQ, Admin Areas and control zone up to the bridge, support crews will not be allowed on to the course with the exception of team medics.

You'll be allowed to keep your personal nutrition in your admin area and access it when you pass each loop, or carry it with you. If you want to order a pizza for delivery to you on the route, the event crew will be happy to look after it for you until you reach the turn point. Reality Check!!!
Running, walking or Tabbing for 12 hours isn't easy! You'll burn a lot of calories, sweat gallons and push your body and mind to the limits, with hard physical effort and sleep deprivation, and in the early hours of the morning when you're crossing the bridge in the dark with nothing to distract you and nobody to talk to the demons will creep in and give you every excuse in the world to quit. You can run, walk, tab, and even take a break for an hour and sleep in your tent, but make sure you know what you're getting yourself in to before you sign up and expect a physically and mentally demanding 12 hours!
Looks Like Heaven - Feels Like Hell!
